Organized in 1977 by Emmit Powell, The Gospel Elites are an ensemble of male and female voices, each an acclaimed soloist in their own right, with a rhythm section including pianist, an organist, guitarist, bass guitarist and drummer.

Since 1977, The purpose of the Gospel Elites is to bring this beautiful music out of the church of America and into the lives of all people, not just to spiritually uplift, but also to entertain and make people feel good.
